Our Saviour Lives
"I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore"
Revelation 1:18
The Christian calendar is filled with many wonderful holidays each having their own significance. Perhaps, the greatest of all is Easter. Truly it is precious to see our Saviour as He came in the manger in Bethlehem. Certainly, it is humbling to see our Saviour crucified upon the cross of Calvary where He willingly died that we might live. Easter Sunday though above all is glorious for here we see our Saviour conquering sin and death giving to all who trust in Him victory.
This is the one that John, as an aged Apostle, encounters nearly 60 years later on the island of Patmos. He sees the Saviour as the conqueror of sin and death for it is He that was dead, but now liveth. This is how we ought to see Him today. We serve a living Saviour and our religion far exceeds the creeds and even cruelty of other religions for our religion is based on a relationship with this living Saviour and Lord.
Many religions acknowledge Christ, but they are unwilling to accept Him. They even question how we can know that our Saviour lives and how anyone can know for certain that what they have is real. The answer to their questions may have been best answered by the hymn writer Alfred Ackly when he penned the chorus to the hymn He Lives. He wrote, "You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart." Christian, be comforted for our Saviour lives!
