A Day with the Lord
"For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand."
Psalm 84:10
If your days are anything like mine, there are many events and people that demand our time. We have varying responsibilities and each one requires a certain amount of time if we are going fulfill our obligations well. We have various relationships and each one makes demands upon our time and each one is deserving of our time. At times, we want to flee from our responsibilities and minimize our relationships so that we can get some time to ourselves; we call this vacation or holidays. The question is, if we were offered the chance to get away, where would you go and with whom would you wish to spend your time?
In Psalm 84, the Psalmist expressed that the place that he longed to run to was the tabernacle of the Lord (verses 1-2). He later exclaims that one day with the Lord was better than a thousand days spent any other way. Life is filled with many demands. What will you choose to help keep you refreshed and focused on what you have been called to do? May we learn what the Psalmist, stated in verse 11 "the LORD God is a sun and shield … no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."
